From LeBron to Legend, celebs praise Mayor-elect Karen Bass: ‘CONGRATULATIONS QUEEN!’
The first reaction from Chicago’s new mayor-elect, Karen Bass, was not so much a surprise – at least not right away.
I mean, she was a surprise, no doubt – a surprise to herself and to her colleagues. Bass was the first person to actually announce she would be running for mayor. And what’s more, she’s not only going to run – she’s running hard.
But one thing was clear: Karen Bass has every intention of delivering on promises of a Chicago that is more inclusive, a city that is more diverse and a mayor that is more responsive to the voters she represents.
In fact, at a time when Chicago’s mayor-elect was receiving heavy criticism regarding her own election night address, Bass appeared on ABC’s “The View,” Friday April 20 to give a glowing review of the state of Chicago.
“I’m very excited today,” said Bass, who was born in Chicago and grew up in the suburbs. “This is a moment in time that matters a lot to Chicago, an historic moment in this state of our country and our country’s state of mind. And it matters because we have the opportunity here – we have a chance to lead this city in a transformative way.”
The reality is that, as I predicted, Bass may very well be in for the most difficult job of her professional life, but she’s clearly prepared for the challenge.
