Donna Vekic suffers mid-air fright ahead of Guadalajara victory
Donna Vekic suffered mid-air fright last summer while practicing in the air-show arena in Kneževo. The pilot was preparing for a free flight and landed in the same spot where she had practiced.
Donna was not the first and not the last to suffer mid-air fright at Kneževo airfield. Earlier, Croatian pilots were flying in the same area where the accident occurred.
The accident occurred during a training flight for the “Knezevo Aviation and Space Exhibition 2013,” which took place on Sept. 16 and 17 last year in Kneževo.
The flight had previously taken place in June, during which the pilots were not trained at all and were therefore practicing at will. The first day of the flight was supposed to take place in the air-show arena.

The Croatian authorities said that the air-show in Kneževo, which used to only take place on the weekends but was recently revived, was completely safe. The airfield was not closed, but instead was declared a recreational zone.
The accident also brought more attention over the matter of mid-air fright. Since 2011, eight pilots were killed by mid-air fright at Knezevo, eight of which died at the same time.
In 2012, the organizers of Kneževo air field said that they expected the number of mid-air fright accidents to decrease after the accident.
Meanwhile, the organizers of the air show said that they will keep the airfield open and will continue to increase the number of flights and the number of passengers at the air show.
